WDCs in Russia
are a component part of the
World Data Center System
organized and maintained by the
International Council for Science (ICSU).
WDC System activity is coordinated by the
ICSU Panel on WDCs and carried out according to the
WDC System Guide.
The centers provide a unimpeded access of the scientific organizations and scientists,
first of all from Russia, to data of planetary geophysics.
Two Russian WDCs are the part of the Geophysical Center
of the Russian Academy of Sciences and situated in Moscow
Three WDCs in Russia carry out the activity, being a part of the
All-Russian Research Institute of Hydrometeorological
Information - World Data Center (RIHMI-WDC).
All these Centers are situated in Obninsk
Since 2006 a new WDC functions in the structure of the
Institute for Applied Systems Analysis and the
National Technical University of Ukraine "Kiev Polytechnical Institute".
This WDC is situated in Kiev, Ukraine
