About Center

          The World Data Center for Solid Earth Physics, Moscow (WDC for SEP) was established in the USSR in 1971 as a member of the ICSU World Data Center system. The Center was hosted by the Interdepartmental Geophysical Committee of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, which was later transformed into the Geophysical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (GC RAS). The WDC for SEP is a part of the Geophysical Data Laboratory of the GC RAS. The Center operates under the auspices of the National Geophysical Committee of Russian Federation.
In 2012 the WDC for SEP was accepted as a Regular Member of the ICSU World Data System ICSU WDS).

          The WDC for SEP, Moscow maintains extensive archives of data on seismology, main magnetic field and its secular variations, paleo- and archeomagnetism, gravimetry, geothermics (heat flow), recent movements, and so on.
          The WDC for SEP provides access to all these data and also serves as information and reference center because information on other data centers and data providers, interesting data sets, and data bases is collected along with data.
          Data and information, saved up in the WDC for SEP, are given to all users without restrictions and are free-of-charge.
          The WDC for SEP responds to data and information requests from users from all over the world, and serves visitors from any country.
          The WDC for SEP is active in scientific International and Russian projects and programs. WDC for SEP was involved in "The Geotraverse Project" of International Program "The Global Geoscience Transects", in the international project "InterMargins", in the program "International Polar Year 2007-2008".
